There are several alternative and complimentary therapies to hair transplantation.
The use of photo-therapy (light therapy) in medicine has a long history. The Egyptians filtered sunlight through precious gems to obtain desired colors of light. Archeologists have found ancient records on Egyptian papyri dating back to 1550 BC detailing phototherapy cures. The Greeks built solarium cities in high mountains to harness the additional ultra-violet light available there for healing tuberculosis and red light was used to quell the effects of the smallpox virus.
Up until recently, the availability of Laser Phototherapy treatment for hair was only made possible through visits to advanced hair clinics. These clinics were the only ones able to feature the larger low level laser devices that were automated to treat a patient’s hair. Additionally, this method has proved to be expensive and inconvenient, as patients must schedule appointments to receive treatment at the clinic on a regular basis.
HAIRLAB now offers a powerful alternative for visits to the laser clinic. Laser Panels have over 90-224 class 3 lasers built in for in-home laser treatments.
The LaserCap
The LaserCap was recently introduced at the ISHRS conference in late 2010.
Dr. Chao has found this to be the best and most effective laser treatment and now recommends the LaserCap in every consultation. The LaserCap is simple to use and benefits from photo laser therapy will appear much sooner. The use of the LaserCap will also greatly enhance the post operative results of the hair transplant procedure. Contact us to find out more information on the LaserCap.
Laser Phototherapy for hair is a scientific discovery that uses the energy of laser light to nourish and revitalize your hair. Light is energy and living cells “like” and respond to light. Your hair is no different. The end result of using Laser Phototherapy is that the appearance and condition of your hair will flourish and you will feel good about your hair again.
Propecia is a prescription medication approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) originally as a prostate gland shrinking medication, however in 1998 it was also approved at a lower dosage as an anti-baldness treatment. It is sold as a prescription prostate medication in 5 milligram tablet form under the brand name Proscar. For treatment of hair loss it is sold in 1 milligram tablets under the brand name Propecia.
Minoxidil is the only medication approved by the FDA to stimulate the regrowth of hair for those men and women who have a hereditary tendency for pattern baldness or hair loss. Minoxidil was first approved as a prescription medication for treating high blood pressure conditions (and is sold as tablets for that purpose under the Loniten brand name). Minoxidil is now also sold as a scalp lotion under the brand name Rogaine. Rogaine topical lotion is 2% and also 5% minoxidil in a solution of water, alcohol, and propylene glycol.
